The theme for the August LooksBook was Resort Edition. I was excited to see this cute and colorful book of goodies. I think this theme was great for Summer and really did keep up with the latest in beauty trends. The colors made me think of a mermaid look for Summer. They were bright and beautiful.
The book is really cute because there is a how-to or tips pamphlet attached to the lid. I really took advantage of these tips and applied my makeup just as they suggested.
The Ritz/Tropic blush and highlighter is really beautiful. The blush seemed to be the perfect pigment for my light skin. It is a really pretty coral color. The highlighter is gorgeous! It gives just enough shimmer to make the lightest parts of your skin really stand out. It also blended well with my skin.
The Jet Set lipstick is also a coral color. It matches the blush perfectly, which I love. It’s a really nice lipstick too. It isn’t cheap and doesn’t rub off every chance it gets. The color is really flattering and matches perfect with a little summer dress that I have. The size of the lipstick could be improved, but it’s great for what it is.
The Aqua eye shimmer stick is pretty. The tips suggested to wear it alone, but I am not really loving the look of it alone. I think this would be beautiful blend with an aqua shadow, under the brow bone, and in the creases of your eyes. The color is absolutely beautiful, but I am not the biggest fan of creamy shimmer stick like this.
Overall, I loved the LooksBook! I think it’s a great deal for $12 and much better than some of these other beauty subscription boxes. I also think it’s much nicer than the Starbox. I love being surprised and I love the themes. The themes motivate me to wear the colors together. The actual “book” that these come is really appealing. The design makes me more excited about it and more likely to give it as a gift.
