At this point, you’re probably already shopping for your Easter dress or if you’re like me, multiple dresses. I like two dresses for my Easter events – a Church dress and a Party Dress. Basically, I make any excuse to buy a new dress and Easter dresses are my favorite because they are classy and colorful. You can’t just pick any dress, though. You don’t want to be the girl in church with the too tight, too short dress and you always don’t want to be the only one wearing black in your family Easter photo. There’s a science to finding the perfect Easter dress.
A Girl’s Guide to Easter Dress shopping
When choosing the perfect Easter dress, you must consider the weather. Easter is typically pretty warm (or scorching hot here in Florida). Be sure you're choosing a dress that has a short sleeve or a half sleeve. I don't necessarily recommend sleeveless either. You should also keep your gathering in mind. Are you going to church? Will you be around other families all day or just your own? Keep it clean and classy for Easter. It's the only day every year that everyone dresses to impress. Make it count. You'll thank me after you see those Easter photos!
Again, think of the weather and your event. I think a knee length dress, or just above the knee, is perfect for this holiday! Your best bet is to think back to what you’re teachers taught you about dress code, “Anything above your finger tips is too short.”
So, when shopping for your Easter dress, look for something versatile. You can wear it to church, while cooking a nice meal, and while playing Easter bunny for the day. Show just enough leg for your hubby to stare you down but not so much that the Pastor asks you to leave.
It's spring! Wear your favorite spring colors. This means pastels, light, and bright colors. You want to avoid most neutral colors and any dark colors. Think light blues, yellows, greens, and pinks.
Patterns are really important for an Easter dress. I love seeing fun patterns like florals and polka dots on Easter, but you can always pull off a solid color!
Your goal is to find a dress that is not too tight or revealing. Again, think of your audience. You don’t want the congregation whispering about your dress over the potluck dinner. Be modest, buy fashionable! Anything low cut is a no-no (especially if your top heavy). Don’t wear something so skin tight that you have to go commando. I just want you to look back on these photos and not be mortified. You want to look back 5 years from now and think, “Dang girl! You rocked that dress!”
