The most epic Star Wars event of the year happened right at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios and I was there to witness the force happen. As a Disney partner, I was invited to bring my family to experience the event first-hand and to give my honest 2018 Galactic Nights Review! I was not paid for this event and all galactic my opinions are REAL!
If you missed the Galactic Nights takeover on my Instagram Stories, don’t worry – I’m spilling all the details right here for you and I created a “Disney Highlight” on my Instagram page for you to see! So, bookmark this page and stalk the Disney website so you don’t miss the next EPIC Galactic Nights event.
Star Wars: Galactic Nights Review
This one-night only, separate ticketed event seemed to bring out the geek in everyone this year.Fans of all ages put on their best cosplay gear, fan t-shirts, and got lost in a galaxy far, far away, as Hollywood Studios completely transformed their park for the evening event. With exclusive Star Wars Galactic Nights offerings, fans got to explore a special piece of the galaxy for a few magical hours.
Fan-made Droids & Fan Costumes
A fun little bonus to this event is that fans were allowed to dress up in all their Star Wars gear, whether it be a simple t-shirts or a full on costume.
We also had the pleasure of experiencing the fan-made droids that were rolling around the park.
Scavenger Hunt
The Star Wars: Galactic Nights scavenger hunt was a fun start to our evening. On the back of every Galactic Nights lanyard were 5 missing sticker pieces to be found throughout Hollywood Studios at different photo opp locations. I instantly felt my adrenaline rushing because I knew I’d be up for this galactic mission. I was happy to find out that it was easier than expected to collect all the pieces. I’m thankful because my anxiety couldn’t handle all that pressure and I can keep my lanyard as a piece of memorabilia!
Special Star Wars Photo Opps & Characters
The photo opps were truly impressive. On a normal day, you can snap pictures with Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and sometimes BB-8. For Galactic Nights, characters such as Darth Vader, Rey, and Captain Phasma can be seen with special photo opps for some.
The Star Wars Photo backdrops were incredible! I was particularly excited about K-2SO since I attended the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story press junket back in 2016.
I was a little sad to find out that he didn’t move or talk because I wanted to bond with him. Maybe next time.
The photo backdrops were actually iconic scenes from the Star Wars saga. So, I’m basically a part of the saga now.
Yasss. Life goal accomplished.
Special Meal & Photo Deals
Galactic Nights had two special deals to help fans enjoy their experience to the fullest extent:
For $30, attendees could purchase the Galactic Tasting & Viewing Package which includes 5 specialty food & beverages – even alcoholic beverages! It also gave attendees reserved seating at the special Galaxy’s Edge panel.
For $39, attendees could purchase the Galactic Nights PhotoPass which gave unlimited downloads to all photos taken during the event!
Night-time ride transformations
Two of Hollywood Studios' best rides were transformed with a Star Wars spin. The outside of the Tower of Terror was plastered with projections of our favorite Star Wars scenes, along with the memorable cinematic score! Rockin Rollercoaster took fans on a galactic adventure like no other, with Star Wars music, projections, and more!
An Insider’s look at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Park
Fans had the honor of sitting in on a panels which discussed some incredible new details about the new WDW Park, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The panel was introduced by none other than Warwick Davis, a Star Wars actor who's had many roles within the saga.
We had the pleasure of listening to Imagineers and actor David Collins, as they discussed what fans can expect from the new Park.
Here are the highlights:
- Black Spire Outpost revealed to be the name of the village in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
- Opening Late Fall 2019 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL
- Ride: Fly in the Millennium Falcon
- Board a Star Destroyer for an epic battle!
- Full-Size AT-ATs!
- Exciting new merch!
Star Wars Galactic Nights merch
I'm always excited about event merchandise because it's exclusive to the event. There were t-shirts, water bottles, and pins! Since this is a one-night only event, the merch is even more appealing. Additional offerings included a droid kit and wine from Skywalker Vineyards which could be signed by the General Manager of Skywalker Vineyards.
Special Celebrity Guests
Celebrity guests made an appearance including Warwick Davis, Joonas Viljami Suotamo (Chewbacca in Solo: A Star Wars Story), and Actor Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano).
Star Wars-themed food
Throughout the park were fun Star Wars themed foods. Should fans dare, they could indulge in Porg meat or have a lightsaber duel with a few churros.
Galactic Nights Attendee Gifts
The event ended with gifts for everyone as you exited the park. We received trading cards and an exclusive Star Wars: Galactic Nights poster!
Bonus… the Solo: A Star Wars Story merch & posters!
