It’s okay to demand the type of friendship that you deserve – in fact, it might be necessary.

Friendship expectations; who needs them? Me. I do.

I know what a real friend looks like.

I don't accept excuses because I do have friends with busy lives that always manage to make time for me – whether it be through a conversation on Facebook, a good video chat, or an hour long phone call. I know what a good friend is which is why I can say that I will not accept anything less.

There's no excuse for being a shitty friend.

I refuse to be anything other than a priority.

The 5 types of women that I want to be friends with (and why these are the best types of friends)

    Jessica,

I am so sorry you’re experiencing this. You are definitely worthy of real friendship. I used to feel the same way but learned my worth. If someone is okay with making you suffer emotionally, without giving you the respect of telling you what’s going on, that doesn’t sound like a very good friend to me.

This really touched me as I am going through a situation where my “friend” has been ignoring me. Finally contacts me when it is time to pay for a membership we are on together. Then she confirms that she is indeed not speaking to me for a reason she is not ready to talk about. This is the second time I have gone through this silent treatment with her as we’ve been “friends” for 8 years. The first time, her now ex-best friend accused me of speaking negatively on her and after making me suffer for about two years, she saw that it wasn’t true. So now I am stuck wondering what accusation it is this time to cause to not even have the decency to approach me on the issue as opposed to just cutting me off. I am starting to feel as though I am not worthy of real friends who value the friendship as much as I do. Yet, I know I don’t deserve wondering what position I play in someone’s life. I wish I could make friends who reflect who I am. 🙁

  11. […] Breaking up with friends is hard to do but sometimes, it’s necessary. When you have the courage to end a friendship because it isn’t fulfilling your life – you will find joy. If your friends are making you feel neglected, less than, or negative – it’s time to move on without them. Nobody wants those kinds of friends. […]
